A Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) serves as a focal point in the community for information about hazardous substances, emergency planning, health and environmental risks.

LEPC is comprised of a broad representation of the community including elected officials, law enforcement, the fire community, health and environmental workers, the news media, along with local businesses and operators.

The LEPC reviews and approves Hazardous Materials, Off-Site Response Plans, receives emergency release and hazardous chemical inventory information submitted by local facilities.
